Rock for Love 5, the fifth-annual Church Health Center benefit concert, starts today, Aug 18 through Aug 21 at the Hi-Tone (1913 Poplar Ave).
RFL 5 will include a free show at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19 at the Gazebo (near Goner Records, 2152 Young Ave.) and a free day party from 1p.m to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20 at Shangri-La Records (1916 Madison Ave). Tickets are available at HiToneMemphis.com.
Since 1987, the Church Health Center has provided quality, affordable healthcare to working uninsured people and their families. Since 2007, Rock for Love has celebrated Memphis’ legendary music scene and raised funds and awareness for the Center.

Shangri-La Records will donate 20 percent of store sales from Saturday’s day party to the Church Health Center, and donations will be accepted. Bake Sale will also host a bake sale to benefit the Center.
Rock for Love 5 will also have an online auction hosted by Infolexa at auction.infolexa.com. The auction will go live on Aug. 1 and close at midnight on Aug. 21. The Memphis Roller Derby will host a merchandise table throughout the weekend with a variety of records, T-shirts and other merchandise on sale to benefit the Center.
In partnership with ArtsMemphis, the Friday night show is being offered as part of the organization’s Bravo series.
In conjunction with Rock for Love 5, Revolutions Community Bicycle Shop will host its second-annual Rock and Roll Revolution Bike Ride, a bike ride that will pass by iconic sites of Memphis rock and roll significance, on Saturday, Aug. 20. The ride will begin and conclude at Shangri-La Records, just in time for the start of the Rock for Love 5 Day Party. The ride is for ages 12 and up, and there is no cost to participate.
