Africa in April is a cultural awareness festival that takes place every year in Memphis. The family-friendly spring celebration showcases the music, traditions and arts and crafts of the African Diaspora. Each year, the festival focuses on a different country in Africa and offers themed activities, live music, native cuisine and authentic goods.
Every year, Memphians gather in Robert Church Park (just east of FedExForum) to celebrate African culture with a festival of food, music, demonstrations, arts and crafts, and more. This year’s Africa in April honored country is the Republic of Gabon. The festival is daily April 13 to April 17.
You can expect a ton of arts, crafts, and food vendors, live music every day, a parade, and other entertainment and education demonstrations.
