The event will feature live music from the Garry Goin Band\, Marcella and Her Lovers and a special set from the Stax Music Academy. \nThis year\, for the first time\, the Soulsville Foundation is partnering with local hotspot\, the Rec Room\, located in the booming Broad Avenue area\, creating the “Rec Room South” in the Stax Music Academy building during the event. \nAfter being inspired by the Stax Records legacy and encouraged by the Soulsville Foundation’s work with at-risk young people\, former Grizzlies players Shane Battier and Brian Cardinal and their wives offered to host a fundraiser in 2005\, which became Staxtacular. He also appeared on the 2010 edition of Shaquille O’Neal’s All-Star Comedy Jam. \nAs an actor\, Holcomb has appeared as guest star on several sitcoms such as Half & Half\, Everybody Hates Chris\, Tyler Perry’s House of Payne and Black Jesus\, as well as minor roles in films such as Like Mike and Dance Flick. Holcomb is a recurring voice actor for the Family Guy spin-off The Cleveland Show\, for which he provides the voice of Robert Tubbs\, Cleveland’s rival and the ex-husband of his wife Donna. We feel it. We’ve been in the Western Conference finals. We’ve been that close.” \nEntering Wednesday night’s clash with the Utah Jazz\, Memphis sits three games back of the top-seeded Golden State Warriors with a three-game buffer separating them from the third-place Houston Rockets. \nBut while Houston and Golden State make their championship bids by peppering opponents with a trendy combination of threes and high-percentage looks\, Memphis has done just the opposite. \nSpurning analytical convention\, Memphis has picked opponents apart by embracing its core competency—high-post dynamism. \nWith center Marc Gasol operating as the fulcrum of the Grizzlies’ attack\, Memphis ranks second in elbow touches per game (27.2) behind the geometrically obsessed New York Knicks. That strategy also has Memphis averaging the most close touches (24.2)\, which are defined as “all touches that originate within 12 feet of the basket\, excluding drives\,” according to SportVU. \nThat’s not how efficient offenses are supposed to work under modern pretenses.
