On July 15th, the Horseshoe Casino at Tunica hosted a media dinner to celebrate the grand opening of the newly renovated Jack Binion’s Steak Restaurant. A 10 million dollar renovation, the grand opening saw the transformation of the steakhouse into a more metropolitan destination: think plush seating, ambiant lighting and even a little private dining.

After our cocktails, we tried a few appetizers: first the chipotle shrimp with mango salsa (this has a sweet kick + could actually be recreated at your next BBQ), chicken lollips, corn frittatas, and then scrumptious crab-cakes.

For dinner, instead of going the easy route and trying steak, I sampled the chargrilled salmon with a cream dill sauce, mushroom + spinach risotto, and asparagus. Light but filling, this won’t put you in a food coma.

Not one to ever pass on dessert, I noshed on the cheesecake with strawberries + fresh whipped cream (SO GOOD).

The texture is extremely creamy, and the strawberries were some of the freshest I’ve ever eaten. This was a great treat for the night and overall, I was very satisfied with the dinner. Chef Bruce Ford was really personable, and the staff was quite friendly and knowledgeable about the menu (should you need a little help with your selections). Next time, I will be testing out the Steak!
